By adding and removing a virtual hard drive to Virtual Box, you can add more space to your existing virtual machine, or get back space by deleting unused virtual hard drive from your real hard drive.

If you make a virtual Swap File hard drive on another physical hard drive you can also speed up your machine.

It is very easy to add or remove virtual box drives. All you Do click your virtual machine, and select settings. In settings, go to storage. From storage, there are tiny buttons for adding and removing virtual storage devices.

Note: Before you remove drives, be sure to backup your virtual hard drives to another location like an external hard drive or your desktop. Once you deleted your drives, they are gone!

You can also add hard drive controllers, and virtual floppy drives to Virtual Box. Now you will never run out of space for Virtual box.

Virtualbox is a free Virtualization software for running Operating Systems within Windows or other host operating systems like Linux, Ubuntu, etc. You can download virtualbox at virtualbox.org Ubuntu is a free linux distro you can download from Ubuntu.com . You need a 800 MHz CPU and 512 MB or more of RAM/Memory  for XP, and I recommend 1-2GB for Windows Vista or 7 and 10GB of free space on your Hard drive.

The benefits of virtualization is you can use it to test software which you are not sure is safe or not or contain viruses since viruses in a virtual machine can not infect your main Operating System which is running VB in theory, but you should still practice good computer security practices like not visiting piracy sites, and adult entertainment sites since some of those types of sites contain malware, and viruses. Ubuntu has fewer viruses or virtually none, but it is best to play it safe and not visit harmful sites. Virtual Box Virtualization software  sandboxes its guest OS, so it can’t touch the main OS. But, there can always be a chance some hacker, or advance virus be able to hack into your main OS. Stay Alert, Stay Safe!

Be sure to backup your Virtual Hard drive by copying your virtual drive file to an external drive since the virtual drive and OS install can take up to an hour or more to finish. If you accidental wreck your Virtual OS by testing software, you can just delete it, and use your backup copy of your virtual hard drive which you can just remount.

The disadvantages of virtualization is it can be very slow on older computers, and the animation and resolution can be difficult to set compared to a regular PC.

Sanboxing is running a program inside an isolated folder away from your Windows System files and registry to prevent harmful programs and files from harming your Windows System files or registry. Sandboxing can also be used for running beta or alpha programs which can also break windows.

Sandboxie makes a great program for sandboxing your programs from your system files and registry for Windows.

Read How to sandbox with sandboxie your programs to prevent viruses, and bad programs from damaging windows. if you like to learn more about Sandboxie.

Comodo recently came out with a new sandbox program for its Defense+ firewall. It automatically, sandboxs unknown applications and files.

You can download sandboxie at http://sandboxie.com

Note: The free version of Sandboxie has a pop-up when the trial period expires, but it can still be use for free.

You can download Comodo Firewall which comes bundle with a Defense+ sandbox at http://comodo.com

Programs which are a good idea to Sandbox are Web browsers, E-mail Clients (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc), Unknown files sent to you by friends, etc.

Sandboxing is kind of like virtualization, but virtualization is more secure since it does not touches the host operating system. It emulates a OS inside a virtual hard drive which is not directly connected with any Windows system files.

You should still practice good computer security skills like not going to piracy sites, random download sites, using p2p file sharing clients or visiting suggestive websites and having an updated anti-virus, firewall, anti-spyware and anti-malware program! Hackers, virus makers, and other people are always finding new ways to infect your computer!
