How to install Joomla 1.5.12 Content Management System CMS on your website

Joomla is a free open source content management system that is simple to use, has many free plugins, widgets and themes to help you customize your Joomla 1.5 website to your needs. It also has a large user group, so finding free help for your Joomla website needs is simple.

What you will need to install Joomla 1.5.x is a web server that has php installed on it, a FTP client to upload your Joomla install files, and 1 mySQL database for storing your members posts and joomla settings.

Your webhosting plan must have FTP, mySQL 4, and php 4 capabilities.

 
1. Download Joomla from http://www.joomla.org/download.html
 
2. Unzip the zip file and upload the folder to your webserver with an FTP client. You could rename the folder to any name you like.

3. Go to yoursite.com/joomla

4. Make an Mysql database on your MySQL admin panel for your webhosting account and write down the info. You
 will need it later for the installation of joomla.

 5. Click “next” button on top right corner.

9. Fill in the form with your database’s host name, username, password, and database name.

10. Click Next unless you want Joomla to have access to your FTP.

11. Fill in the form with your site name, your e-mail, and type your password twice. Click on install sample
data if you want sample data for your website. Click Next button.

Your default username is admin
 
12. Delete the Installation folder inside your joomla folder with an FTP client.

13. Go to yoursite.com/joomla/administrator to login to your site.

14. Congratulations you installed Joomla onto your website.
