Ever wanted to back up your CD and DVD which gets scratched so easily to your computer. ImgBurn is a free program which let’s you rip a CD or DVD to your hard drive. ImgBurn saves the image as an ISO file which you can use to install a operating System like Ubuntu  if the CD you are riping is the Ubuntu install CD.

In this video tutorial, I will teach you how to rip the Ubuntu Install CD to your hard drive for safe keeping. Using ImgBurn to rip Ubuntu Install CD is very easy, and only takes a few minutes depending on the speed of your CD drive.

Download ImgBurn at imgburn.com

With CD ISOs you can use them to install a virtual operating system on your CD with Virtualization software like Virtual Box, VMware, and Virtual PC.

ISO are better then CDs because they can’t get scratched, and don’t take up space on your CD cases.

Plus, if you need to burn a CD with an ISO it is faster compared to CD to CD copies since the CD burning software does not have to copy an image of the CD to the hard drive and eject the disk when done, so you can burn a new disk. The CD image is already on your drive.
