Have you ever wanted to move files from your USB drive to your VirtualBox Virtual Machine? If you tried just plugging in a USB drive while running VirtualBox, most likely it would not work. Well, you can now follow my easy instructions for connecting USB devices to virtual machines.

First, plug in or turn on your USB flash drive, external drive, printer, etc.

All you have to do is go to your Virtual Machine Settings in Virtual Box. Click on the USB section, and click “add filter from device button” which is the green button. Lastly, you pick your USB device, and press OK.

If everything goes well, your USB device should be mounted on your guest OS when you start it.

You can also go to the top of your Virtual machine window at devices > USB devices to see if it shows up or to mount and unmount USB devices.

Also, if your USB is mounted and does not work, you most likely need to download and install the latest drivers for your USB device from the USB device maker.
