Piriform Defraggler 2.06.328 Disk Defrag Software Review

Piriform Defraggler 2
Piriform Defraggler 2.06.328 Disk Defrag is a free, easy to use, and fast disk defrag software which organizes and move your files to the most optimal position, so your files open and run faster within Windows XP, Vista and 7. Disk Defrag software will also make Windows more stable, and crash less. Your hard drive also does not have to work as hard to open your files since all your files will be in one spot, so your drive won’t have to move its read and write head as much which will extend your hard drive lifespan.

I like how easy it is to use Defraggler since all I do is click on the disk or highlight the disks I want to maintain, and click the analyze button at the bottom of the program to analyze my disk or the Defrag button to defrag my disk.

I can also easily pause or stop my disk defrag from the buttons on the bottom. It is also easy to check for updates for Defraggler by clicking on the check for updates link at the bottom right.

The installer file for Piriform Defraggler is only 3.11MB which is a lot smaller then a lot of other installer files for disk defrags and system utility software which I downloaded.

Defraggler starts up in seconds after I click the Defraggler shortcut on my desktop.

It also shows me how much free space I have by looking at the pie graph or disk map on the program, so I can easily find out if I have 20% free space before I defrag my hard drives. The Disk grid map also shows you the progress of your disk defrag, and the data it is moving.

Defraggler drive chart shows you the letter of the drive, its capacity, how much free space is on the drive, how much space is used up, and its status, or fragmentation level after you defrag or analyze your drive with Defraggler.

After the Analyze for the disk is done, I can see a list of files in the file list tab to see which files need to be defrag. I can also check specific files to defrag in the file list.

Defraggler can do a quick defrag, regular disk defrag, defrag free space, defrag free space (allow fragmentation), defrag a file, defrag a folder, and a check disk for errors.

You can also use Defraggler as your default disk defrag utility to replace the default windows disk defrag.

You can also set Defraggler to schedule your disk defrag to a preferred time when your computer is on.

There is also a shutdown after defrag function which is useful if you need to run your computer overnight, but you will like to shutdown your computer after the disk defrag to save electricity.

Defraggler also features a boot time defrag which you can set to run once or every boot, so you can defrag files like system files, master boot file, page/swap file, which you can’t defrag when your computer is in use.

I like that it is easy to change the priority of Defraggler to Normal or Background by just going into the settings menu.

Defraggler is a great free disk defrag software for defraging your drive in Windows because it is fast, reliable, easy, and have all the options the typical Windows Users need to properly maintain their hard drives’ performance by doing disk defrags and error checks disks on a monthly or weekly disk defrag and error check.

Hi deb, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling Defraggler. Maybe your hard drive is too full to be properly defrag. You need at least 20% free space to properly defrag your disk drive. You can use CCleaner at http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner to clean up junk files to free up space, and you can also uninstall un-needed programs which you don’t use in Windows with CCleaner to free up more space.

Here is the link for the Defraggler Support forum : http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?s=5984d13b8fd16040d21db1e49ce897a2&showforum=19 it may help you out.
