Computer Network Repair and Troubleshooting Tool kit for wired and wireless networks

If your home network is broken, none of your computers can go on the internet, use shared printers, and access other computer’s file which can be very annoying. Fixing your computer network is very simple in most cases as long as you take the time to learn how to fix it. All you need are a few network repair tools, and a good book or other resource like website on networking troubleshooting and repair.

It is very inexpensive to repair and trouble shoot a home network, both wired and wireless. The tools to fix a network like a crimper, network wiring tester, and plugs cost under 50 dollars if you buy them from an online retailer like Amazon which also includes free shipping.

I recommend CompTIA Network+ All-in-One Exam Guide, Fourth Edition by Mike Meyers for learning about how to configure, install, and repair wired and wireless networks for Windows, Mac, and Linux. I read the book, and I found it is very easy to understand because it has a lot of diagrams on managing a small to large network. It also has chapters about using software and hardware tools for fixing your network. It also contains a CD which contains quiz questions, video tutorials, and software for helping you troubleshoot, repair, and optimize your wired and wireless network. Plus, you can take the Comptia Network+ certification after you finish reading the book if you feel you are proficient in Networking after finishing reading the book.

A RJ 45 and RJ 11 Crimper is used to repair broken cables by cutting off broken plugs or ends of a cable, and crimping on new Network Cable RJ45 Plug, and you can also use a Crimper to make network cables yourself from broken cables by cutting off the broken part of the cable and attaching a plug on the other end.

For testing network cables for reliability, I recommend a Network Cable Tester. It is very easy to use all you do is plug in both ends of the cable into the tester and turn the tester on.

A Ethernet Loopback Jack And Plug can be used to test your network cards, jack, and switch to see if they are working or not by pinging your localhost IP address.

An USB to 10/100Mbps Network Adapter can be useful if your internal network card is broken, and you need to go online since it works just like your internal network card, but it works via USB, and is easier to install.

If you use a wireless card for connecting to a wireless network, a USB Wireless Network Adapter will help you troubleshoot your network to see if it is your router or wifi adapter which is broken.

If you depend on your network being reliable for your VOIP (voice over internet phone) phone, home business or internet E-commerce business, I recommend you buy a spare Wireless and wired all-in-one Router and some extra Cat5e Network Ethernet Cable since you won’t have to rush out to the local electronics or computer store to pay high prices for a router and network wiring which you can get at a good price at Amazon. Plus, having spare networking equipment at home means your network can recover from a failure which means you can’t communicate with your costumers because your network and internet is down because of a faulty router, or cable.

Please post a comment, if you also use more advance tools for troubleshooting and repairing your home or work network.

Because i only support domestics computer the biggest issue i find is when too many people are on the same wireless channels. A really interesting trick i found out is to ping the router wirelessly . this normally picks up any interferious (sorry about spelling). There is also a nice tool you can use to tell you what channels are being use and by who. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wireless_network_view.html

Hi thanks for the link to the tools. I agree changing the channels on a Wi-Fi router can make it more reliable. I also believe with some routers you can make the antennae reception strength higher, or replace the antennae with a better one.
