Shutdown a computer and doing a disk clean up are the two most boring tasks I do when I am on the PC, so I like combining both. I set CCleaner to automatically shutdown my PC after it finishes its disk clean up. Watch my video where I show you how I tell CCleaner to automatically shutdown my pc when its finish removing junk files from my computer.

All you have to do is right click your desktop recycle bin icon and pick run CCleaner. You will see a C icon on the system tray. Right click it, and pick shutdown after clean.

I also recommend clossing all programs like media players, office suites, games, instant messangers, and web browsers, so it decreases the risk of your computer hanging during shutdown.

Download CCleaner at http://ccleaner.com

I recommend you configure CCleaner by opening it and checking what you want it to clean.

I don’t really recommend “wipe free space” unless you recently deleted some very private photos or documents on your PC. Wiping free space takes a long time and can cause a lot of un-needed wear and rear on your computer.

I recommend using “wiping free space” if you plan on donating or selling your computer with your old hard drive. Over writing free space can make it incredibly hard for the average hackers and data thieves to recover your files.

Also, if you empty your recycle bin and manually delete your Temporary files for your Internet Browsers and other programs it can make CCleaner clean your pc of junk files a lot faster.

Doing disk clean ups also help keep your web browsing habits private from your family and on your computer’s web browsers history, but not if your home network or Internet service providers keep a log of your browsing habits.

However, with data recovery software, people can recover your web browsers history. But, it is unlikely since most people will not bother using data recovery software since it is a hassle and can be difficult to use without the right training.
