Recently, I tried to install Windows Updates on Windows XP with Internet Explorer by clicking on the Windows Update button on the Startmenu. But, when using Internet Explorer to check for updates with both the Express, ans Custom button, Internet Explorer Froze, and Windows Update won’t stop checking. There also was no error message saying that Windows Update is not working. I just saw a green bar, and a message informing me that my computer was checking for updates. I waited hours, and there was still the green loading bar, and message.
Fixing the problem was very simple in my experience, I just need to reinstall Internet Explorer 8 from the installer file I downloaded from Microsoft. [continue reading…]

Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro has been easier to use on my desktop computer compared to Windows 8 Pro. I have been using Windows 8.1 for a few months, and the start button helps with switching between the Start Screen which is the Startmenu in Windows 8.1 Pro.
One of my favorite part of the Startbutton is I can now use my mouse to right click the start button to show a right click menu which has shortcuts to shutdown, restart, and sleep my computer along with other shortcuts to control panel, Windows Explorer, Search, and many other useful software for using Windows.
In the Taskbar settings under the Navigation tab, you can now set Windows to launch Windows 8.1 Pro into the classic desktop instead of the full screen start screen. This feature is useful if you added shortcuts of your most used programs to your taskbar, or desktop, so you can quickly double click on them to launch desktop programs like MS Word, Google Chrome, and Windows Explorer from the classic desktop instead of the Startscreen.
Windows 8.1 Windows for programs run in the desktop also seem to use slightly less space compared to Windows Vista and 7 Windows which use more space for the title bar, and top menus. There are also tweaks like WinAero’s Tiny Windows Borders program for Windows 8.1 where you can decrease the borders width and height, so Windows use even less space on the classic desktops.

Sometimes when playing back YouTube and online video on your phone, or tablet can run slowly which can be kind of annoying because you need to wait for the video to download before you can continue watching.
The first thing you can do is switch to a lower quality mode like turning of HD if you are using the YouTube App, or tapping on the HQ button before you play the video if you use the mobile web browser version of YouTube on m.youtube.com. Turning down the quality mode means the video you are downloading will not use as much data because the file size is smaller, so it will download faster, but the quality is not as good. But, you may not notice the poorer quality because your phone has a smaller low resolution screen, so less sharp video is not noticeable when you hold your phone a few few feet away from your eyes.
The YouTube App also has preloading features in the YouTube App settings which will download your video subscriptions and videos in your watch latter section when you are charging your phone or tablet, and you are connected to Wi-Fi. This means your videos will play off your drive on your mobile instead of over the internet. However, you still need to be connected to the internet to use YouTube’s App. You can try using a different web browser for playing back YouTube videos, I found UC Browser to work pretty well for playing YouTube videos because it uses a custom video player which can download videos streams faster in my experience compared to the video player on other browsers. You can also try Google Chrome for iOS, or Google Android which works pretty well.

Clearing your history, cookies, and autofill on your Browser’s history/privacy settings, and closing all your tabs except YouTube, or other video sharing site could improve your web browser’s performance which may also improve your video watching experience.
