Remove front panel faceplate from Desktop PC Tower Computer Case Video

In this video, I’ll teach you how to remove your computer front panel from your computer case. Make sure your computer is powered off, and all the cables like USB cables on the front of your computer case are unplugged. You should also unplug all cables like video, speakers, USB, networking, and power cables from the back of your computer. It is best to work on your computer on a large flat table. Touch a metal part inside your computer to prevent static build up from damaging your computer parts. Be careful of sharp metal corners inside your PC case from cutting your skin.

All you have to do is open your computer case doors with a crosshead Philips, flathead or torx  screw driver to unscrew the side case door and front panel face plate screws holding your computer case to the front panel plate. Sometimes, there are plastic clips at the bottom or side of your computer case holding the front faceplate to the front of the computer case. You need to unclip the clips from your computer case to remove the front face plate from your computer case. You can use your nails, or a small flathead screwdriver to “gently” lift the clips off the clip holes on your desktop’s case.

Be careful not to damage the power switch wires, USB plugs, and other devices which may be connected to the front of the PC case. Be gentle when removing your case’s front panel face plate on your computer case since you don’t want to damage the wires, or unplug something by accident by being too rough removing your computer front panel.

By removing your front panel on your computer case, you can more easily remove CD and DVD optical drives, Hard drives, case fans, floppy drives, Card readers, and other front facing computer hard ware.

Sometimes, you need to remove the front face plate in order to unscrew the front case fan from your computer case since the front faceplate is blocking the screws which need to be unscrewed from your computer to remove a case fan from the front of the PC case.

Also, you can clean the dust out of the front of the PC case easier when the front panel is removed. By cleaning out the dust, your computer will run cooler since dust can trap heat inside your computer, so over time it may overheat.

You can reinstall your computer front panel by screwing it back onto your computer case.

Another good vid – can be a pain to work out how they come off. Touching a part of the bare metal casing at the back of PC should discharge static (after unplugging the PC).

“Be careful of sharp metal corners” – seconded! The metal blanking plates for cards/drives are the worst offenders, I swear they can smell blood…

Thankfully, a lot of new computer cases have fewer sharp corners in my experience since I think desktop makers are knowing people are getting complaints on users cutting themselves when upgrading computer parts.
