Namebench is a simple software for finding the fastest DNS server for your computer and home network. It is available for Mac OS X, Windows, and UNIX. You can use Namebench to compare your DNS server with other DNS servers like Google Public DNS, OpenDNS, etc.
By using a faster DNS server then your current DNS server provider, you may experience faster internet speeds when it comes to loading web pages, videos, etc.
Some DNS servers like Clear Cloud DNS, Norton DNS, and Comodo DNS also helps you block virus, spyware, and malware programs from infecting your PC while making your DNS look ups faster, and more reliable.
It is very to use, all you have to do is download Namebench, and run the installer file when you finish downloading it. At the bottom right of the program there is a start button which you press to start the DNS test.
The DNS test takes a few minutes to complete. After the test completes, Namebench will open a browser Window which will tell you how fast or slow your current DNS server is, and your recommended settings.

I found Google DNS to be the fastest DNS to use in most cases, and it is also very reliable whenever I use Google DNS as my DNS server.
However, if you use Microsoft Windows operating systems, you might be better off using Clear Cloud DNS at
since Clear Cloud DNS also blocks viruses, malware, and spyware from infecting your computer.
