Medialink – Wireless 802.11N Router 150 Mbps Review, Great inexpensive wireless router

I have been using the Medialink Wireless 802.11N 150 Mbps Broadband wireless Router with 4 wired networking ports for almost a month now, and it works great, and it is affordable since it costs 49.99 on Amazon instead of hundreds of dollars like some other router . This router also has over 4200 reviews and the average review for this router is 4.5/5 and over 3000 reviews out of the over 4000 reviews gave this router 5/5 stars on Medialinks 802.11N Wireless router product page on Amazon.

The wireless signal is very reliable, strong, and fast. It does not drop, and reaches three floors high in my home. I can watch online HD video from YouTube, and play games even on my third floor on my wireless tablet and laptop when I’m connected to this wireless router.

I have not had to manually reboot my router by unplugging it from the wall’s power and replugging it back in the wall, or change the channel of the router for better reception like other wireless routers I owned. The wireless signal from the router is fast enough to smoothly play a HD video without slowdown from YouTube, and other video website on my laptop, and tablet computer. All my older 802.11 B/G wireless devices like my laptop works with the Medialink wireless router. My Asus Nexus 7 and Kobo Vox with 802.11N wireless  Tablet also run great on the wireless router for connecting to the internet to watch online HD video and listen to MP3 quality online radio.

I get pretty good signal reception on all floors of my home when I look at the wireless signal indicator icon on my Tablet, laptop, and PDA . I usually get 3-4 bars out of 4 bars on the second floor, and 2-3 bars out of 4 bars on the third floor. Most importantly, I get a wi-fi signal everywhere in my home, and it is fast enough to browse the web, watch online video, and play games online.

My wireless laptop and tablet connects very quickly to this wireless router in only a few seconds during PC startup or wake from sleep or hibernate.

I tried the router with Windows 8, a Xbox 360 console and tablets running Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and 4.2.1 Jellybean and it works on them as well.

The four 100Mbps wired networking ports on the router’s back side work great. The wired networking/internet connection on this router is very stable, and never disconnects and the wire connections are fast enough for YouTube HD videos, and downloading big files online.

The instruction manuals which came inside the box and the instructions printed on the box are easy to understand because the instructions has detailed pictures and step by step instructions.

The router was easy to setup with the installation CD  to password protect the router for Windows, or using the web browser based setup wizard for the Medialink router by using a web browser to go to 192.169.0.1 and typing in admin for username and admin for password which will launch the web control panel for your router. In the control panel for the router, you can change the password for the router and wireless password for the Wi-Fi wireless signal. I kept all settings as default, and it works great even with the default settings.

Plugging in the power adapters, modem cables, and network cables from my desktop computers and game consoles were simple. The network cables, modem cable, and power adapter are firmly held in to the router once I plug in all the cables, and they don’t come loose, or disconnect even when I move the router  to adjust the position of the router on my desk.

The router is also small enough that it does not use much room on my computer table. I also like the antennas are hidden inside the wireless router, so I do not see them pointing out of the routers. The Blue LED lights on front also look nice. The router is also wall mountable with mounting holes to save space, or make the router higher from the ground.

When I  use my hand to touch the top of the router’s case, and the power adapter for the router, it does not get hot. It is just slightly warm. The bottom and sides of the router also has a lot of ventilation air holes to keep it running cool even when I am downloading a lot of files online, or streaming HD movies and videos.

The Wired networking ports are also fast, and I can also stream HD videos from YouTube without slowdowns or buffering.

This router works for both DSL and Cable broadband internet connection. The Router also supports speeds of 150MBps 802.11N , and comes with WPS (WiFi Protected Setup), WPA and WPA2 Security Protocol ,WEP, TKIP, and AES – 64 and 128 Bit Encryption.

The 4 Wired network connection speeds are 10/100MBps.

The router also comes with a firewall, and can be use as a wireless access point to extend a wireless network you already have.

The router is also Microsoft WHQL Certified , so it would work for Windows 2000, XP (32 and 64 Bit), Vista (32 and 64 Bit), 7 (32 and 64 Bit).

It also works with Linux and Apple Mac OS X, iOS , and other operating systems  and devices which support Wi-Fi.
